In this week's episode I chat to Neil Atkinson, the host of the Liverpool Football Club themed podcast The Anfield Wrap.

British Podcast Awards Entry

March 1, 2018

Today I decided to enter the British Podcast Awards for 'Best Newcomer'.

I needed to select clips from at least three different episodes, published before the 31st of January 2018.

In looking for the clips I realised how many excellent contributers I've already spoken to and what a brilliantly varied set of career choices they've all made.

It was really tricky to select just a few clips, but I tried to choose ones that I felt represented what the podcast is all about.

Here is my entry for the British Podcast Awards. Wish me luck!

Walks of Life with a Radio Producer

February 19, 2018

This week's episode is a chat with Lizzi Doyle, a radio producer for Radio CityTalk on Merseyside.

Lizzi tells us all about how she got into media work in the first place, as well as the incredible number of jobs and work experience placements she had to do in order to get to where she is today.

This is a fascinating chat for anyone considering a career in media, as well as those who are intrigued about what goes on behind the scenes at a radio station.

You can follow Lizzi on Twitter by heading to https://twitter.com/lizzidoyle, plus you can follow the show by going to https://twitter.com/WalksOfLifePod.

Walks of Life with a Self-Employed Affiliate Marketer

January 16, 2018

This week's Walks of Life is a chat with Matt White. Matt trained as a biologist and specialised in immunology before leaving the scientific world in order to become an affiliate marketer.

This is a career that simply didn't exist 15-20 years ago, so it's interesting to hear how Matt stopped being employed in a 'classical' career in order to make his way in a burgeoning industry.

This week's guest is Gavin Jones, a professional singer with the band The Rush as well as the owner of BandTube.

Walks of Life with An Actor

November 28, 2017

This week, Gareth Bennett-Ryan joined us to tell us all about life as an actor.

Is it all glitz and glamour, or is it a touch more complicated than that? Gareth tells us about how he began life as a labourer and a carpet fitter, but how he always wanted to be an actor and so concentrated his efforts around getting there.

It's a conversation that's filled with the highs and lows of a complicated career path.

You can follow Gareth on Twitter by looking for @GazzBenRy and you can find the host at @AdamStevensActs. The podcast also has it's own Twitter account, @WalksOfLifePod.

November 21, 2017

This week we're joined by Cherona Sylvester, a fashion designer who works in women's knitwear.

Cherona tells us about how she got started in the fashion business and how she's climbed the ladder to where she is now. She gives advice for anyone hoping to get into the industry, plus looks ahead to her own future.

It's a brilliant discussion about an industry we all use the results of on a regular basis but perhaps don't understand all that well.
